Happy Tuesday! Today I thought I would share August’s installment of the Making Memories Last series–an easy wedding invitation ornament.
This ornament is the perfect way to preserve your wedding invitation. Or in my case, I used it as a gift for some close college friends of mine that just got married. When I saw “From Glitter to Gumdrops” wedding invitation ornament post on Pinterest, I knew I would be making some of these in the future. Christy, author of “From Glitter to Gumdrops,” made the ornament below:
I followed Christy’s directions of cutting the invitation to show parts of the wording. To create the fancy filling, I rolled each invitation strip around a pencil. Some I rolled tightly, others more loosely. I bought crafting, unbreakable ornaments from Hobby Lobby (of course Hobby Lobby has Christmas items in July…I still don’t know why it surprises me every year lol!) I also found some cute charms that say “I do” and bought coordinating ribbon for hanging the ornament.
After filling the ornament with the invitation, I used a craft paint pen to write “Est. 2014!” I then used the ribbon to tie on the charm. You could also use string or fishing line, but I think the ribbon is a nice touch.
Such a sweet way to preserve your wedding invitation. Plus you will get an extra reminder every year when you put up your Christmas tree!
What are some of the ways you held on to your wedding invitations?

Love this!!!
This is so cute! I'm going to mention this to others who are getting married, and also to some who might still have several copies of their own invitations. What a great idea for a special, sentimental ornament. Thanks Jess!
I love this! Such a great idea…I did something similar when I was getting married and asked my bridesmaids to be in my wedding with ornaments. Great minds think alike 🙂 Thanks for sharing on Something To Talk About!
